Station I- Jesus is Condemned to Death

I- Jesus is condemned to Death. Jesus is bound and arrested; tried for blasphemy He is stripped of his clothes and given a scarlet robe. Red, representing sin, hellfire, or the Devil. But it can also connotes martyrdom, or the blood of Christ to come, a foreshadowing. Jesus is beaten, tortured, sentenced to death by crucifixion. Pontius Pilot presided at the trial of Jesus and gave the order for his crucifixion.
